In touch with feelings?

Ask one person, stereotypically males in American culture, how they're feeling, and you'll get answers like "Fine!" or "I don't know!" or "I'm bummed that the [favorite team] lost!"

Ask another person, stereotypically females in this culture, how they're feeling, and you'll get answers like "a little more depressed, definitely anxious!" or "totally abandoned!" or "betrayed!"

Some are more in touch with how they're actually feeling and can articulate those feelings. Others are either not in touch with how they feel (because feelings are buried deep), or they lack the vocabulary to say how they're feeling. Here are two books that can help. This first one is a fun collection word search puzzles of feeling and emotion words. It'll boost your vocabulary!

The second is a surprisingly revealing book for/about men from an experienced therapist named Terrence Real. His book, I Don't Want to Talk about It explains the difference between overt and covert depression, and how to treat it. A great read!
